NCC SUMMER
OFFICE HOURS |
Summer 2008
Office Hours
Monday - Thursday - 8:00 am - 1:00 PM
TEMPORARY SCHOOL
OFFICES
Due to the construction and asbestos removal the Main Office and
Development Office have been moved. The Main Office is located
in the Computer Lab, Room 107 and the Development Office is in
Room 108.
You must enter the building from the upper parking lot by the
flag pole. Take the steps down to the gym, make a left toward
the cafeteria and then a right up the steps to the rooms. Entry
from the back doors will no longer be available. Due to the
move, our phones were down for a time. We ask your patience as
we begin this process of renovation and construction. Thank
you.

HOST FAMILY
NEEDED |
Host families needed for high school
students visiting from Denmark. We currently have 4 families but
would like 2 or 3 more. The students will visit from October 4
through the 24. Some of those days may be spent travelling with
their group. We would prefer Juniors and Seniors as they match
the age of these students better. Please contact Shelley Wykle at
swykle@ncchs.com if you can
help. Thanks!

PORTABLE CD PLAYERS
NEEDED FOR MISSION TRIP |
|
As many
of you know, there is a group from St. Catherine that will be going
on a mission trip to Belize in June. One of the things the HS kids
will be doing is working at a VBS for the kids. They will be
recording all the Bible music for them and would like to leave some
CD's of the music with the kids.
At this
time they are looking for any portable CD players that you may have
sitting around your house. Many of our kids have replaced these with
ipods and other devises. If you have any CD players collecting dust
and would like to donate them, please drop them off at St
Catherine school or church office between 8:00 and 12:00 before
June 11. They may also be dropped at the house of Kim Lampe, 37
Covert PL, Ft. Thomas or Julie Dupont at 55 Wilson, Ft. Thomas. If
you have any questions concerning this, please contact Kim Lampe at
441-9955.

Newport
Central Catholic High School students selected for Governor’s School
for the Arts |
|
The Kentucky Center
Governor’s School for the Arts provides hands-on arts opportunities
for the state’s talented high school students who are dancers,
actors, musicians, creative writers, future architects or visual
artists. GSA’s primary components include a three-week summer
residency program where students are immersed in a rigorous
curriculum.
Over 1,300 students audition
for GSA each year and approximately 240 students are selected to
attend for GSA, an honor which includes the opportunity to learn in
a supportive community of distinguished master-teachers; the chance
to audition for scholarships before the nation’s top colleges and
universities; and the excitement of performing at the Student
Performance Festival at the conclusion of the program.
This year, three NCC Students
have been selected to participate in this wonderful program. In the
discipline of Visual Art, Juniors Andrew Krebs and Zach Thompson
were selected. In Musical Theatre, GSA has chosen Will Brannon, AKA
“The Tin Man”, “Billy”, and “Gaston”, for those of you familiar with
the NewCath plays over the past few years. Will had the added
dilemma/good fortune of having to choose from two disciplines, Drama
and Musical Theatre, having won in both categories

OCTOBER
|
|
MARK YOUR
CALENDARS
Oct. 25 |
 |
The
Winners’ Circle
will be an annual event
replacing the “chance drive” which most of you may remember!
Proceeds from this event will be used to enhance the already
excellent Catholic education offered at NCC, by providing the best
learning environment with the most up-to-date tools needed to
educate our students. In addition, monies raised will benefit the
NCC Education Endowment Fund. Please come and help support the
students at Newport Central Catholic.
This event would be a great way to reunite with old school
friends. Get a group together from your graduation year and
purchase a table.
Special request: NCC is looking for a week/weekend at a vacation
rental property in order to auction off at the event. If you or
any family members have a vacation rental property in which time
could be donated, it would be a great way to help out the school
as well as use as a tax deduction. Any other gifts would be
welcome as well. Thank you for thinking of us!
Look for more information about
The
Winners’ Circle
in the coming months. Mark
your calendar for OCTOBER 25th for a night with friends from long
ago while helping the students of today. Together we all can be
WINNERS!
