MAY - 2008
Newport Central Catholic announces new inductees to the National Honor
Society.
The NCC chapter of the
National Honor Society is pleased to announce that new officers and members
were inducted on Thursday, May 1, 2008. Officers for the 2008-2009 school
year include Robert E. Curtin, President; Cassandra Juniet, Vice President;
William R. Brannon, Secretary; and Anne Gruenschlaeger, Historian. Selection
into the NHS as an officer is a great honor, and these students have truly
earned it.
New members of
the NHS include the following juniors: Alexa Abner, Leigha Babey,
Kaela Jo Freppon, Kelsay Froendhoff, Rebecca Gerding, Beth Goforth, Devin
Klaserner, Benjamin Parr, Elizabeth Rolf, Julia Schulenberg, Alyxandra
Schulte, Maria Schuman, Rachel Wagenlander, Lindsey Wagner, and Morgan Wooton.
New sophomore members include: Daniel Bowman,Joseph Brennan,
Shae M. Brennan, David Broering, Lizzie Canafax, Molly Connor,Connor Devoto,
Tim Dunn, Liz Grothaus, Brian Hogle, Nolan Johnson, Tyler Lampe, Jared Leick,
Cole Little, Allie Lonneman, Natalie Ludwig, Adam Meyer, Shaun Meyer,
Bridgette Parr, Kevon Reis, Courtney Sandfoss, Mackenzie Lynne
Schabell, Frannie Schultz, Amy Schwarber, Nathan Seibert, Michael Smith,
Sierra R. Walker, and Brendon Woodruff.
Membership is based
on the four pillars of the National Honor Society: Character, Service,
Leadership, and Scholarship. Students were notified of their candidacy in
mid-April. The faculty advisory committee reviewed applications and chose to
induct these students because of their high level of achievement in each of the
four categories. Congratulations to all new members and officers. Your
achievement and dedication are appreciated!

NCC SENIOR HAMILTON
NAMED NATIONAL MERIT FINALIST

Newport Central Catholic High School
congratulates Senior Ian Hamilton, son of Joe and Jan Hamilton of
Ft. Thomas, KY for being named a National Merit Finalist in the
2008 National Merit Scholarship Competition.
Ian has met the requirements for Finalist
standings in the 2008 National Merit Scholarship Program, a
distinction that places him in a group representing about half of
one percent of U.S. high school graduating seniors. He is among
16,000 finalists now being considered for 8,200 Merit Scholarship
awards. The National Merit Scholarship Corporation will announce
the 2008 Merit Scholarship recipients beginning in March.
Newport Central Catholic congratulates Ian on
his outstanding achievement and wishes him luck in being selected
as a Merit Scholarship Winner. |

Jacob Grosser

Newport Central
Catholic High School proudly congratulates Senior Jacob Grosser, son
of Scott and Jane Grosser of Fort Thomas, KY, for being named a
Finalist for a National Honor Society (NHS) scholarship from the
National Association of Secondary School Principals. One hundred and
fifty NHS Finalists were chosen from among more than 5,700
applications. Each Finalist will receive a $1000 college scholarship.
Finalists were
selected on the basis of their academic record, leadership skills, and
participation in service organizations, clubs and other student groups
at school and in the community.
Jacob served as
President of the NHS Chapter at Newport Central Catholic and received
the honor of 2007 Class Valedictorian. While at NCC, Jacob has been a
member of Students for Life, American Red Cross, Anthony Munoz
Foundation Youth Leadership Seminar, and Hometown Heroes. This fall
he plans to attend Maryville University in St. Louis to study
Actuarial Science.

TWO NEWPORT CENTRAL CATHOLIC SENIORS
NAMED NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARS
Newport
Central Catholic High School proudly congratulates Seniors Ian
Hamilton, son of Joe and Janice Hamilton of Fort Thomas, KY, and
Mitch Buller, son of Jim and Ann Buller of Fort Thomas, KY, for being
selected to enter the 2008 National Merit Scholarship Program. Each of
these students have shown outstanding academic potential with a qualifying
score on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Test and will be
considered for the National Merit Semifinalists.
