 CULINARY CLUB

Club Description

 

The Culinary Club is dedicated to educating Newport Central Catholic High School students
about the pleasures of fine food and cooking. Recognizing that most NCC students are headed towards successful futures and that great food is a perk of those futures, the Culinary Club exists to educate people new to the culinary arts, continue to motivate those already addicted and provide a forum for information exchange and network around a common interest – food. 

The Culinary Club is an extra-curricular group where students can learn the basics of cooking in the kitchen, learn to create culinary dishes and menus, and extend their culinary interests into the real world with visits to local restaurants or culinary attractions as well as opportunities to practice their culinary skills at school events.  The Culinary Club hopes to instill a greater understanding of the world of food, develop positive attitudes, foster strong leadership and management skills and develop communication – all vital skills in nearly every field of work.

This is the first year of the Culinary Club so there may be some degree of feeling things out as we go.  I have tried to eliminate some of the foreseeable obstacles, but will probably discover some new ones as the year progresses. 

 

Club Mission

 

· To provide a forum for students with a common interest to network and exchange ideas around a common theme 

· To educate NCC students beyond the classroom about life’s simple pleasure – great food 

· To provide NCC students who have a passion for food with a social and educational arena for sharing this hobby

· To expose NCC students to experts in the field of culinary arts

· To prepare NCC students for lives of success – recognizing, preparing and discussing fine food

 

Organization – Executive Council

 

The Executive Council is the governing body of the culinary club and will collectively make decisions regarding club interests

 

President –       Leader of the Executive Council and liaison with faculty regarding the operations

of the Culinary Club

Vice Pres. –   Will lead meetings in the absence of the president and functions in a supporting

role

Treasurer –       Aids in the collection of dues and distribution of Club funds

Secretary –       Records minutes of meetings and promotes awareness of Culinary Club activities
